As a long-time real estate investor, Richard founded KASA Hotel Collection to develop, own and operate luxury hotels throughout the Caribbean and the Americas.

After graduating from University in England with a degree in Mathematical Sciences (vowing never to do anything that boring ever again), Richard left those sunny shores and headed to the USA. Here, his investing career began in venture capital and the stock market, which eventually led to a variety of real estate ventures in California and Florida. Combining his love of travel with his keen eye for opportunity, Richard ended up in Mexico’s Riviera Maya and was one of the first foreigners to land-bank large tracts of land. After opening one of the largest and most successful real estate brokerages in the area, he also began developing condos, houses, hotel-condos and hotels.

With the success of each company - development, construction and real estate brokerage - it was only natural for him to begin developing resort hotels. To date, Richard has already successfully developed five properties with more than 250 rooms.

Richard has also assembled a world-class Executive Team and secured KASA’s association with Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Looking toward the future, there are two hotels slated to open each year for the next five years in the KASA Hotel Collection’s current hotel and development pipeline.

Uwe is a senior business leader and multilingual hospitality executive with more than 45 years of experience in the global hospitality industry. His professional experience includes executive leadership roles at many of the world’s top hotels and resorts, including the Savoy London, Shangri La Beijing and the Intercontinental Cairo. Uwe has delivered Ivy League MBA-level education services to International hotels and Fortune 500 companies. He has also served as Global Alumni Ambassador for Northwestern University, and as Development Ambassador for Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

As CEO of the Five-Star Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort in Costa Rica, he successfully oversaw a major repositioning project and established a long-term development vision for the property as a Luxury Destination Spa Resort affiliated with Leading Hotels & Spas of the World. Uwe’s expert guidance transformed the property into a world-class destination spa resort, while dramatically improving brand image and revenue growth. The award-winning property was also the organization’s first resort worldwide to become Green Certified and was declared carbon neutral by the Costa Rican government.

Uwe is a respected industry leader worldwide in hotel revenue management, marketing and finance. His academic and professional focus includes Revenue Management, Business Strategy and Development, International Marketing and Board Room Accountability Management. Uwe holds Executive Alumni Status from the Kellogg School of Management, and in 2010 he achieved Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Accreditation from Harvard Business School. He also achieved Master Certificate Accreditations in Revenue, Marketing and Hospitality Management from Cornell University, and in 2012 became a senior faculty member at eCornell, lecturing on International Marketing and Hospitality Management.

Víctor Ruíz

Victor has more than nine years of experience overseeing what has grown into a 70-member team at IPM, where he has been responsible for handling all financial statements, budget reports, legal documentation, taxes and external audits for a variety of real estate projects in Mexico’s Riviera Maya.

He studied Graphic Design at La Salle University in Cancun, where he developed a strong sense of professionalism, patience, and precise attention to detail. At IPM, he worked to develop and lead the marketing department for more than five years, before moving on to develop the administration team, including finance, HR, accounting and operations. Victor has always demonstrated considerable strength in analyzing numbers, creating order and developing business systems, including successful delegation, administration and managing people from many different backgrounds.

KAI JOCKEL |Area Manager

Area Manager

Kai is an experienced hotel executive with nearly 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry. He is a multilingual strategic leader who drives results with a focus on analytics, operations, sales and marketing. He holds a Chef and Hotel Master’s degree granted by the German government, and has a proven record of managing smaller operations with 100 rooms or less, as well as larger operations with more than 800 rooms.

Most of Kai’s experience has been with major hotel chains, including Marriott, Hilton and Starwood in Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Europe. He has been accountable for multimillion-dollar budgets and is an expert in property pre-openings, re-openings and positioning, taking responsibility for everything from the initial stages of planning to successful operation and growth.

Kai’s extensive expertise in leadership, finance and crises management also allows him to feel totally comfortable in multi-cultural environments. Since 2014, he has served as an instructor for eCornell, teaching courses focused on Food Service, Marketing and Revenue Management for Cornell University, which is a private and statutory Ivy League research university located in Ithaca, New York, and one of the most prestigious online universities for Hotel Management.

Rosa Vera

HR Manager

Rosa has demonstrated strong leadership and team-building skills, along with a drive to continue increasing her professional skills and knowledge. She has a strong background in Human Resources, having served as head of the department at The Carmen Hotel and the Hotel Mahekal Beach Resort, as well as Assistant HR Director for Palace Resorts.

Rosa has a proven history of success with recruitment and staff selection, including personnel administration, payroll, settlement negotiation, loss calculation and handling of labor conflicts. She is also skilled at preparing and maintaining an HR budget and overseeing basic staff training, as well as providing support and compliance follow-up with labor obligations.

Andrew Schisler

Vice President of Business Development

Andrew has more than seven years of real estate experience in Mexico, where he led sales at IPM for three of the five years that he served as an Investment Advisor with the company. For the last two years, Andrew has been dedicated to increasing sales of new projects as a Developer’s Representative for KASA, which includes hand-negotiating offers and evaluating new sites for projects, while working with the marketing team and outside brokers.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, which is also where he grew up, and is currently working to pursue a Master’s of Professional Studies in Real Estate with Georgetown University. Andrew is a top CrossFit athlete and brings a keen ability to analyze situations from different perspectives to the table.

He has proven leadership in business development by successfully evaluating a wide variety of potential deals and negotiating with multiple parties to close deals as quickly as possible. Having been with IPM for his entire career, Andrew has matured professionally with the company as it has grown. This longevity and the knowledge he brings will serve as a major strength as KASA continues to evolve.

Vanessa has worked at some of the best spas in the world, including Viceroy Riviera Maya, Azulik Tulum and One & Only Palmilla in Cabo San Lucas, which was named Best Spa in North America and South America by Spa & Wellness Awards in 2016. During a previous tenure at Capella in Cabo San Lucas, Vanessa’s expertise also earned the titles of Best Spa in the World 2012 from Travel & Leisure; Best Spa in Mexico and Latin America from Conde Nast Traveler and recognition among the Top 10 Most Romantic Spas in the World from Spa Finder.
